Hamilton was born in Cardiff, Wales and began playing the piano at the age of four. After a classical training he won several national competitions and a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, London. At the age of fifteen he was awarded a Performer's Diploma (Licentiate of the Trinity College of London) and was the Blue Ribband winner of the National Eisteddfod in 1990. He was also awarded a Distinction at Grade VIII on bassoon.
Christopher read Law at New College, Oxford University. During his time there he was awarded the Instrumental scholarship and gave many recitals. Christopher developed a passion for singing and theatre which he continued to pursue in his spare time while working as a lawyer in the City. When he was seconded to New York and found himself moonlighting in the piano bars of Manhattan, he decided to concentrate fully on performing and studied a musical theatre course at Guildford School of Acting. Since graduating from there in 2001, Christopher has appeared in several shows including The Yeoman of the Guard at the Royal Opera House, a play about Noel Coward called Laughing When I Choose which was specially written for him, Not About Heroes at the Imperial War Museum and he also appeared in Ten Cents a Dance at the Watermill Theatre and then at the Cardiff International Music Festival. Christopher was musical director of Newsrevue, a comedy show and hosted and performed in a charity night at the Soho Revue Bar.
Christopher has combined his two great loves, singing and playing the piano and has performed in cabaret all over the world from Bangkok to Tel Aviv and was recently flown to Melbourne, Australia, to perform at a private party. In London, he has performed solo shows at Jermyn Street Theatre, the Theatre Museum, Lauderdale House, the Bush Hall and The Actor's Church, Covent Garden. He has won praise from all the major newspapers, the Telegraph describing him as an “ace pianist”. Christopher has also performed at venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, London, St David’s Hall, Cardiff, Blenheim Palace, Hopetoun House, Scotland, Galgorm Manor, Northern Ireland, Phyllis Court Club, Henley on Thames and the House of Commons for Betty Boothroyd's retirement party. Christopher recently performed at The Vineyard at Stockcross as part of the Newbury Spring Festival and entertained at the Everton FA Cup Final party at the Grosvenor House Hotel
In 2007 Christopher was invited to perform his one man show at the well loved cabaret venue Don't Tell Mama in New York and his six performances garnered rave reviews. Critics described him as “the real deal” and “a total showman”. Cabaret and theatre veteran Julie Wilson called him a “triple threat” while New York cabaret legend Steve Ross described him as a “wizard on the keys”. Christopher also performs as headliner on all the luxury cruise liners.
Christopher is often commissioned to write
songs and is currently working on a new writing project called "Melody
Towers" with a new writing partner, award winning Susannah Pearse.
